The 650m Event
The 650m Intermediate Swim is for Junior swimmers who have previously completed the Junior Dash and wish to swim in an intermediate event and for juniors and adults prefering a shorter event.
The course is from the Northern end of the Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina toward the pier and then to the finish gate on the beach in front of the yacht Club. It is in relatively sheltered water behind the marina and breakwater. See the course map below.
Please allow sufficient time to walk from the pier through the yacht club marina to the start.
Spectators will not be allowed inside the marina for security reasons , but the pier and the walkways provide unrivalled spectator viewing for most of the course. Music and food stalls will be provided on the lawns adjoining the pier and baths.
The Intermediate Swim has separate events for Juniors under 16 YO and an Open Division for swimmers of any age.
Swimmers will receive a colour-coded swim cap and a gear bag containing sunscreen and a sports bar. At the finish, swimmers will receive a Bulk Nutrients sports drink or water, fruit and Bulla frozen yoghurt.
On-line entries includes a raffle ticket for flights and an accommodation package for two to Noumea and secondary prizes (total value $4,300) for the first 1,000 swimmers in the Open Water and Intermediate Swim events.
The first 1,000 entrants will also receive a Swimland Great Australia Day Swim T Shirt.
