The 2500m Open Water event
The 2500m course is from the Middle Brighton Pier, anti-clockwise around a ‘box’ of buoys and then clockwise around the breakwater and Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina, finishing on the beach in front of the yacht club. See the course map below.
To allow boat access to the Yacht Club marina, all swimmers must pass the marina entrance (2,000 m from the start) by 10 am. Slow swimmers will be assisted back to the beach by the Lifesavers.
The pier, breakwater and the walkways provide unrivalled spectator viewing. Music and food stalls will be provided on the lawns adjoining the pier and baths.Change tents and gear storage are in the Yacht Club yard near the Finish gate.
The open water events comprise male and female age groups and an Open Divisions (any age).
Swimmers will receive a colour-coded swim cap and a gear bag containing sunscreen and a sports bar. At the finish, swimmers will receive a Bulk Nutrients sports drink or water, fruit and Bulla frozen yoghurt.
The on-line entry price a raffle ticket for flights and an accommodation package for two to Noumea and secondary prizes (total value $4,300), for the first 1,000 swimmers in the Open Water and intermediate Swim events.
The first 1,000 entrants will also receive a Swimland Great Australia Day Swim T Shirt
Timetable
- Registration Desk (for 2500m event) opens 7:30 am
- Register and collect timing band at least 30 mts prior to each wave start
- Start – all Men’s Divisions 9:00 am
- Start- all Women’s Divisions 9:05 am
