The 2500m Open Water event
The 2500m course is from the Middle Brighton Pier, around a ‘box’ of buoys and then clockwise around the breakwater and Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina, finishing on the beach in front of the yacht club. See the course map below
To allow boat access to the Yacht Club marina, all swimmers must pass the marina entrance (2,000 m from the start) by 10 am. Slow swimmers will be assisted back to the beach by the Lifesavers
The pier, breakwater and the walkways provide an unrivalled spectator viewing area. Music and food stalls will be provided on the lawns adjoining the pier and baths.
The open water swims comprise male and female age groups and open events
Swimmers will receive a colour-coded swim cap and a gear bag containing Cancer Council Sunscreen and a sports bar. At the finish, swimmers will receive a Bulk Nutrients sports drink or water, fruit and frozen yoghurt.
